Beginner comfort Brighter tone Warmer tone Balanced all-around Long life (coated) Heavy strumming / tighter feel
Beginner gauge

Light is easiest. If your guitar feels stiff, try Extra Light.

Bright vs warm

80/20 Bronze = bright • Phosphor Bronze = warm/balanced.

Longevity

Coated sets stay fresh longer (great if strings “die” fast).

Hard to play?

If your action is high, lighter strings help a bit — but a proper setup helps a lot. We can replace strings + do a full setup so it feels right.

Beginner gauge

Start with 9s or 10s for easier bends and less finger fatigue.

Classic tone

Nickel Wound = familiar, balanced tone.

Tighter feel

If you down-tune or hit hard, try a slightly heavier set.

FAQ

Quick answers customers actually ask.

How often should I change strings?
It depends on how much you play. If your strings feel rough, won’t stay in tune, or sound dull, it’s time. Coated sets typically last longer than uncoated.
Are lighter strings “worse”?
Not at all. Lighter strings are often best for beginners and for easy bending. Heavier gauges can feel tighter and louder, especially for heavy strumming or down-tuning — it’s about matching your goal.
My guitar hurts to play — should I just buy lighter strings?
Lighter strings help a little, but if action is high, a setup is the real fix. We can install strings and set it up so it feels comfortable and plays in tune.
